5.6 quake rocks India's Assam, felt in Bangladesh, Nepal

A 5.6 magnitude earthquake has struck some 23km from the Indian city of Basugaon in the northeastern state of Assam. The moderate, shallow earthquake was also reportedly felt in neighboring Bhutan, Bangladesh and Nepal.
The 10km deep quake struck shortly after 1:00am GMT on Sunday, with the epicentre reported to have been 23km north of Basugaon, according to USGS.

Record heat bakes the Northwest, a region already bone dry

CNN)Just a week into summer and the Pacific Northwest is ready to throw in the towel -- or whatever it is you do when you're being baked like a Sunday casserole.


Portland, Oregon, has already broken a 2003 record for most days in June with temperatures at least 90 degrees -- seven days. Forecasters predict Sunday's temperature will peak at 88.
But there were plenty of records to go around on Saturday. In Oregon, Medford hit 104. Roseburg topped at 101.

94th Earthquake hits city of Volcano in Hawaii in 2 Weeks

(CNN)An earthquake struck the Hawaiian city of Volcano on Saturday evening.
The magnitude-5.2 earthquake was followed by five aftershocks, the largest of them registering at magnitude 3.1, according to the U.S. Geological Survey's Hawaiian Volcano Observatory. No injuries have been reported.

No stranger to earthquakes, the island of Hawaii has experienced 94 earthquakes in the past two weeks, the largest of them being the one that occurred on Saturday.
